The HR department currently carries out the application processes largely digitally. Although this was a major transformation for HR, the entire team has handled it amazingly well, says Joana Franke.

HR is “people business” – shaped for, with and by people. That made moving to the home office in March of this year all the more unusual for Joana Franke. Months later, however, the Team Coordinator in HR Service Recruiting has established a positive routine, especially after moving her computer from the living room to her home office – a second monitor and a real office chair make for a better working atmosphere at home.

The Corona period has not yet had a negative impact on the volume of work for Joana Franke and her team. “Even more people are applying than last year,” she says. To ensure that plenty of potential candidates continue to contact her, her team has posted notices on the website, in job ads and in e-mail signatures. “We continue recruiting as usual at DMK”.

The application process here – as everywhere else – is predominantly digital at present. “Job interviews are initially conducted by telephone or via Microsoft Teams. Even new colleagues and trainees are mainly familiarised via the video tool.”

For Joana Franke, all this has become almost normal: “I quite like working from home. Still, I do miss my team and the possibility of asking a quick question across the desk now and then. In any case, it’ll be interesting to see how we position ourselves in terms of working from home at DMK going forward.

Joana Franke already reported on her everyday work at the beginning of the Corona crisis.
