A special day for the employees in Bremen: The housewarming ceremony is also the day on which many of them first stepped into the building. However, this Friday is also an important milestone for those who have accompanied and supported this major project over the past few years.
Ingo Müller, CEO of the DMK Group, is no exception: ‘I am delighted that we can celebrate the move into our new building today! It has already been impressive to see how the building has developed over the last few years - but to be standing in the middle of it now and to see our vision of New Work, sustainability and efficiency realised is truly thrilling! It is all the more wonderful to experience this day together with the colleagues on site, who will bring our vision to life from next week!’
DMK's move to the new building is also a joyous occasion for the city of Bremen - as it is a "yes" to the city: ‘I congratulate the DMK Group on moving into this fantastic, modern building! For me, this new building is a clear commitment to the city of Bremen and also symbolises the innovative strength and future viability of Bremen companies! I am very positive about the competitiveness of Bremen as a business location,’ emphasised Kristina Vogt, Senator for Economics, Ports and Transformation.
Following the official ceremony, those present were able to get a first-hand impression of the future work at DMK and take a look behind the scenes of the new company headquarters and home. For the company, it combines three important core elements for future-orientated working:
# Sustainability - the efficient building technology protects the environment and scores with the highest standards of energy efficiency and climate protection. The sustainable building concept includes a combined heat and power plant, a green roof and a photovoltaic system.
# Motivation - the contemporary working environment with flexible room layouts, state-of-the-art technology and completely new opportunities for collaboration, meetings and networking is all about "New Work".
# Economy - the move also reduces rental and ancillary costs and offers the option of flexible subletting.
In times of working from home and remote working, DMK has planned the new building with a 60% employee occupancy rate. The building follows the clean-desk principle - employees can choose their workplace individually and stow their own working materials such as keyboards or mice in their lockers at the end of each workday. Everyone is following the concept of "activity-based working" by choosing the workplace that is best suited to the fulfilment of individual tasks.
‘The architecture as a whole, as well as the interior design, takes on a marketing function for the company - qualitative on the one hand, centring or focussing on the other. In addition, the building is a spatially manifested invitation to employees to open up to new ways of working. The design of the new building shows how DMK, as a traditional food manufacturer, is breaking up structures and promoting new ways of thinking. The new premises offer the possibilities and the new design the inspiration for this,’ adds Lydia Heckmann, Head of Property Management at the DMK Group.
The in-house restaurant "Friends" operated by Foodsteps, which also opened its doors at the same time as the new building, provided the culinary setting. In future, the restaurant will offer delicious dishes not only to DMK employees, but also to external guests - all those present were able to get a taste of this today already.
