The Integrated Annual and Sustainability Report 2020

Financial and Reporting Information
The CEO
2020 was a year that no one is likely to forget in a hurry. A year of challenges. A year of change. But above all, it was also a year that we as DMK overcame together.
5.6 billion € revenue
The year 2020 was not easy for anyone – not even for the DMK Group. Thanks to the tireless efforts of farmers and staff, we can nevertheless look back on a positive annual result.
DMK thrives on its team spirit. Last year, everyone proved that this is not just an empty phrase.
Ingo Müller, CEO of the DMK Group

A year like no other

Already today it is certain: The corona crisis will go down in the history books. It has presented the world with challenges of almost unimaginable proportions and demanded a lot from all of us – in our private lives, but also in the world of work. The DMK Group was no exception. Within a few weeks, we too had to rethink, redirect and reorganise some things in order to maintain the supply of people with high-quality food during this critical time.

Together we have mastered many things

As a cooperative, the DMK Group has always been characterised by its cohesion and its sense of unity. Both proved to be true strengths once again last year. When the Corona crisis started and we had to adapt our work to the new situation, all staff and farmers played their part. In this way, we were able to achieve a great deal and, despite the social distance, we have moved a bit closer together. With this, we have proven what we can do with combined forces – both today and in the future.

Tomorrow's market remains demanding

Nothing and no one was immune from the consequences of the corona crisis. The food retailing industry also felt the changes. At times, demand for certain consumer goods surged. And even afterwards, the pandemic has shaped shopping behaviour. However, the high demands on food quality have not changed. Even in times of crisis, people look for products that promise healthy enjoyment without regrets. And so we had to face two challenges at the same time in 2020: safely supplying people with food, and the continuous adaptation of our product range to the needs of our customers.

+31.4 %
This is how strongly sales of milk and dairy products rose at times at the beginning of the corona crisis.
The year 2020 was a year of radical change. This is also shown by current consumer behaviour.

Genuine commitment has a lasting effect

The corona crisis has focused a lot of attention in 2020. Nevertheless, as a company we have not lost sight of our long-term efforts for more sustainability along the entire value chain. Our sustainability strategy helps us to move more in a holistic way – on the farms, in the plants, in logistics and in trade.  We implemented our action plan based on this, step by step.

A lot has happened in the last year. Even though corona has changed many things, we are still far from the end of our story. Together we want to continue writing it. And that is why we continue to work purposefully on the implementation of our "Vision 2030".
